Lenovo: Battery plugged in, not charging

I have on several Lenovo (G710 and G580) laptops seen this error. The battery will not charge.

Battery plugged in, not charging.

This will fix it:

  1. Turn off the computer, remove the battery and remove the power adapter.
  2. Press and hold the power button for 30 secs and reconnect the power adapter.
  3. Turn on the laptop and press F2 to boot into the BIOS. When you are in the BIOS, press F9 to load defaults and press F10 to save and exit.
  4. Boot into Windows (Keep the power adapter connected) then reinsert the battery.
